SHOW REPORT: WE ARE SALE #11

Venue: HeyFolks! Shop
Date & time: Sunday, October 02, 2011

Consecutively, we arrived at the venue around 12:00 PM. Cool venue, in my opinion - small stage with closely distanced apparel sellers around it, feels intimate. The show was delayed 1 hour than planned so we're using the spare time to look around and buy some stuffs - Hey, I got jacket! A cheap one! Lol.

02:00 PM, stage time. Overall it was a comforting performance, though the stage was small, it didn't prevent me to move as usual... Okay, it did, but still, it was a nice performance. However actually it could be better if Anink's amplifier wasn't so annoyingly turned off & on automatically. Clearly the problem was not on his instrument because we've done an appropriate check before.

4 songs brought up nice & sweaty, the audience slowly gave more & more attention, especially on the third song (Bodysnatchers by Radiohead) and the fourth, Xenophobia. Annnddd ended satisfying! Seriously, not often Willy said a nice compliment to our own performance, Lol, it seemed he's very enjoying as we all did.

Thank you Hey Folks! See you again next time :)

SHOW REPORT: SPARE 7 FKM-UI

Venue: GOR Bulungan, Blok M
Date & Time: Saturday, July 23, 2011

First, we thought the venue will be an outdoor one so each of us have set our equipment extent to fit outdoor area, but guess we have to be more conscientious next time. The indoor venue which exactly was a Sport Building has the tendency to make the sound furling and, it happened *sigh*.

We arrived about 05:00 PM, the schedule for us was 05:30 but changed to 06:30. Not a problem though, the EO team, which was the students of Society Health Faculty from University of Indonesia, handle us quite well. The LO gave us all the info we need including the schedule changing so we could prepare more.

The performance was a BLAST ! Although the audience was not too many and the sound was not too clear -furling, as I previously said-, I can tell you they were appreciative. 4 songs performed incinerating ! Stockholm Syndrome (MUSE), Fire, Bodysnatchers (Radiohead) and Xenophobia burned the building ! Err.. Can I say that was not too affluent ? LOL. But we did feel good doing performance there -hell the stage was so high-.

Unfortunately, the camera we brought had a problem right at the first song so we can only post some photos here.

Thank you SPARE 7 committee, hope to see you guys again soon :)

SHOW REPORT: BRIT ACOUSTIC NIGHT

Venue: Kopi Merah Cafe, Cipete
Date & Time: Saturday, July 09, 2011

Like what the title said, it's British time ! Err.. Okay it was not really British, there were songs by Scottish bands too. Each band has to cover a few songs performed originally by a particular band from those two area. And LunariaN were covering MUSE's songs.

We arrived consecutively until 09:00 PM. The first band covers Radiohead, the second covers various British bands, the third covers Cranberries, the fourth covers Morissey and the fifth was us !

Although we waited for at least 3 hours before performing, we had a really fun time. The venue was comfortable -really acoustically designed- and chummy, the audience was quite enthusiast. 3 MUSE's songs and 2 LunariaN's songs brought up greatly ! Not to mention that the other bands were also great ! Glad to share the same stage with them.

Thanks to Raya Billy and @MusicAccoustic for the helping hands !

SAD NEWS FOR PLANETROX

The deal is, we didn't make it to PlanetRox final.

The last position before announcement was we're on the third position on voting, around 2,200 votes. The first position was around 2,700 and the second was 2,500. As previously mentioned, 5 bands with highest votes will be taken to final, but we were not among them.

Yes you're free to choose what to think.

All in all, the decision has made. We don't stop here, as far as the future goes, so does our musical journey.

HAIL LUNARIAN !

A COMMENT FROM FRANKFURT

Not usual I got flattered with a comment to our music. We received many of them, (thank God) most of them are good. I got few that seems made whole-hearted and this is the one we just recently get via message in Reverbnation, a comment from Undermain Projekt, an electronic musician (a very good one, you can check him out for yourself) from Frankfurt, German:

"Seriously Guys, I love what you're doing. Willy Clayton's precis says it far better than I ever could. There is an originality in your sound, one that only the great classic "rock" bands ever reached. I can hear the influences - but only because you speak of them yourselves in your bio - would I have mentiond baroque if you hadn't. Perhaps not, but, yes, it is there! Indeed it is. This is not glam rock, but real rock, in the Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Black Sabbath etc tradition. Not only, but and electro too. Klasse! Get out there and become famous, because if you don't, that will be a sad day for the planet.... Cheers to you all, Tim."

This kind of comment is one big factor that made us go this far and will go further, not trying being sentimentil, you lot who also are musician does feel the same, right ?

May GOD be with us.

SHOW REPORT: TERASKOTA MOVIE SOUNDTRACK FESTIVAL

Venue: Teraskota BSD, Tangerang
Date & Time: Saturday, May 21st 2011

It's a band & indie movie competition, held by Teraskota which happens to be the venue owner and managed by Berisik Radio. The bands has to play 2 songs, one movie soundtrack and one any other song they like. The movies detour done in the middle of the show, 2 films, which I say too few for a show with such title. The show started around 8 PM, 1 hour-late from the plan. No bands knew when they will be playing, "secret" rundown, Amir of Berisik Radio said lol.

The journey to the venue was good, no traffic jam. We arrived around 6 PM, then having a little chit-chat with Amir, doing a not-so-comforting sound check regarding to the not-so-cooperative sound engineer, these kind of engineers in a band competition, they'll go "Serve the best to the famous" and as you might guess, fame is a factor that impede a band joining a competition at a particular level, so apparently these engineers will have no concern to a competing band's needs.

To the main topic. We got second turn to perform, which around 08:30 PM. We play 15 Step (Twilight OST) (hey come on ! The song is good) and Xenophobia. There was no stage, the venue was more like a big circle bowl with the audience sitting around the edge, so I could go here and there with no problem except the inadequate cable length. The sound system's not too good, result of a "shut-up-I-know-the-best" sound engineer I guess. But all in all, we play well and took very good response from the audience. Unfortunately, the video taken was not proper enough to watch, bad audio & video-movement.

The indie movie session started after the third band. Both films are nice, it's always exciting to watch a film on a big screen in an outdoor venue. Then the MC led open discussion with the directors and then goin to last session of bands' performance and finally goin into the announcement of the bands who made it to the final, including LunariaN. Yup, we'll have our performance again next week at the same place.

See you again at TerasKota !

AND.. THIS BLOG IS ACTIVE !

To fill the first post, here are two reviews of LunariaN's EP from 2 places a milestone away just this early April. We are excited and thankful to the teams. Hopefully they will review more and more bands from Indonesia !

"They may not be exactly local, as this talented four-piece hail from Indonesia, but they are definitely something to look out for. If you’re looking for something fresh and new, but with the underlying features that are ever-present in a classic rock band, you’ve found it. ..." - Underock MAG, London-UK
"Mendengar dari namanya yang cukup terkesan melancholic, awalnya gue mengira band ini bakal menawarkan jenis musik yang sama seperti band-band yang kita lihat di televisi saat ini. Tapi begitu mendengar beberapa lagu dari EP mereka yang berjudul Experimental Thinking ini, prasangka buruk itupun hilang dan berubah kagum. ..." - GoodJak Magz, Jakarta-ID
